"And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and He that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He doth judge and make war."
Revelation 19:11
One day Jesus will return to judge humans and to fight the penultimate battle. He will win; and His victory will usher in a thousand years of peace and prosperity, joy and justice. Notice that Jesus is called Faithful and True. These are not qualifiers. These are His names. Jesus is the Truth One. Jesus is the Faithful One.
Because Jesus is the Faithful One, He keeps His promises. We are not alone in our fight against sin. Jesus is with us in our struggle against sin in our own lives. When we fight against sin in our families and in our church, Jesus is fighting alongside us. We do not war against sin in our community and country all by ourselves. Jesus is standing beside us to strengthen us; and we will win! Yesterday may have gone poorly, victory seemed far away. Tomorrow, the enemy may seem ascendant. But Jesus is with us today because He is faithful. And Jesus is coming to conquer, to judge, and to rule. Be encouraged He has the victory.

God has been very good to us. We have a tendency to focus on the negative and notice all the things that we lack rather than to see all the gifts that God has given us.
When we experience the vanity that is life without God, do we return to the God who loves us?
Rest comes from rejecting responsibilities that God does not intend for us and accepting God's yoke for us.
The answer to America's social ills is God's grace and Christian love.
