"If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept."
I Corinthians 15:19-20
For the Christian, Easter is the biggest day of the year. Resurrection Day is the most exciting day on the calendar. Today is the day we remember and celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, our Savior. His resurrection guarantees our resurrection. For the Christian, this life is important, and another life awaits us on the other side of death.
Our hope is not in this life alone, as the verse put it "If in this life only …" This life is good because God's peace, joy, and guidance ease the pain of living. And in the next life, things will be even better. For the Christian, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. In God's presence, no sickness exists, no tears exist, no death threatens. In His presence all is joy and peace.

God has been very good to us. We have a tendency to focus on the negative and notice all the things that we lack rather than to see all the gifts that God has given us.
When we experience the vanity that is life without God, do we return to the God who loves us?
Rest comes from rejecting responsibilities that God does not intend for us and accepting God's yoke for us.
The answer to America's social ills is God's grace and Christian love.
