"These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren."
Acts 1:14
Prayer is one of a few key missing ingredients in American churches. Surely, you have heard the saying, "No prayer, no power. Little prayer, little power. Much prayer, much power." After the ascension and before Pentecost, the disciples offered continual prayer. Even though they had already been promised the Holy Spirit, they were not content to passively wait for power from on high. Instead they labored together in prayer for the ten days between Jesus' ascension and Pentecost. Prayer and unity in prayer was critical to their power.
The Lord is faithful to His promise to answer prayers offered according to His will. I believe that God desires to stir up Elmira Baptist Church to even greater ministry and more power. That means that God wants to stir us up to even greater prayer and greater unity in prayer. Our Spring Conference is a part of that work that God wants to do in our lives. Join with me in praying for our spring conference.

God has been very good to us. We have a tendency to focus on the negative and notice all the things that we lack rather than to see all the gifts that God has given us.
When we experience the vanity that is life without God, do we return to the God who loves us?
Rest comes from rejecting responsibilities that God does not intend for us and accepting God's yoke for us.
The answer to America's social ills is God's grace and Christian love.
