"Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding."
Proverbs 4:1
On this Father's Day, let me start by reminding you of two truths: first, there is an epidemic of fatherlessness in our families. Two, there is no substitute for a godly father's influence in the home. Fathers can be physically absent when they abandon their wives and children. Fathers can be emotionally absent when they live at the same address as their wives and children but want nothing to do with them. Fathers can be spiritually absent when they abdicate their leadership in the home.
Fathers, we are called to a unique responsibility to our wives and to our children. No one can take your place of influence in your family's life--a pastor cannot, a church cannot, a friend cannot, government cannot. Your children and your wife need you to seek God, to walk in the Spirit, to selflessly love them, and to instruct them. You can be their hero, their rock, their library, and their teacher. No one else can replace you. Be God's man in your family!
Pastor Scott Dean
God has been very good to us. We have a tendency to focus on the negative and notice all the things that we lack rather than to see all the gifts that God has given us.
When we experience the vanity that is life without God, do we return to the God who loves us?
Rest comes from rejecting responsibilities that God does not intend for us and accepting God's yoke for us.
The answer to America's social ills is God's grace and Christian love.
