"I exhort therefore, that … supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for … all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty."
I Timothy 2:1-2
Are you praying for our nation? Do you pray for our President? Is our governor on your prayer list? These verses in I Timothy tell us that we are to pray for those who are in authority in order that we are able to live in harmony and peace with the people around us. A nation can have laws that conflict with the biblical principles. Or a nation can have a legal system that provides liberty for Christian values. We need to be praying for our leaders at the local, state, and national level to see the importance of religious freedom.
For Americans, religious freedom is one of our core constitutional rights. However, for many decades, it seemed that the First Amendment to the United States Constitution was intended to provide freedom from religion not the freedom of religion. We can be grateful for the recent Supreme Court rulings that allow for more religious freedom. We need to pray for our nation that such will continue. Are you praying?

God has been very good to us. We have a tendency to focus on the negative and notice all the things that we lack rather than to see all the gifts that God has given us.
When we experience the vanity that is life without God, do we return to the God who loves us?
Rest comes from rejecting responsibilities that God does not intend for us and accepting God's yoke for us.
The answer to America's social ills is God's grace and Christian love.
