"And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any."
Mark 11:25
It was November 10, 2015 in the early morning when three men observed a young man leaving his home for the gym. They decided to take advantage of his departure to steal his things. Upon breaking into the home, they found the man's young wife, 12 weeks pregnant. The thieves beat her severely and shot her in the back of the head. When the husband returned from the gym, he found his wife on the floor near death. Several hours later, she passed into glory.
I do not recount this story to make you angry. What amazes me about the story is that the husband forgave his wife's and baby's murderers! His family forgave the murderers. Such forgiveness is only the grace of God. The answer to injustice is not rioting. The answer to inequality is not looting. The answer to America's social ills is God's grace and Christian love. We must remember that the answer to sin is grace, the answer to offense is forgiveness, and the hope for the world is Jesus.
Pastor Scott Dean
God has been very good to us. We have a tendency to focus on the negative and notice all the things that we lack rather than to see all the gifts that God has given us.
When we experience the vanity that is life without God, do we return to the God who loves us?
Rest comes from rejecting responsibilities that God does not intend for us and accepting God's yoke for us.
The answer to America's social ills is God's grace and Christian love.
