"This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success."
Joshua 1:8
For some of us, 2023 was a great year, with happy memories, and success. Some of you married, some of you moved into new homes, some of you started new jobs. For some of you, 2023 may have been a disaster. Regardless of whether 2023 was a good year for you or not, this coming year can be a success; and 2024 has not 365 but 366 days each one of which the Lord has made.
God tells us two things we can do to make 2024 a success. First, we must delight in God's word and spend time meditating on it. We will begin the new year with our 31 days of Proverbs project in January. Do not only read also meditate on God's word each day. Second, obey it! Only through meditation that changes our thinking and obedience which modifies our behavior can we experience God's richest blessings in 2024.

God has been very good to us. We have a tendency to focus on the negative and notice all the things that we lack rather than to see all the gifts that God has given us.
When we experience the vanity that is life without God, do we return to the God who loves us?
Rest comes from rejecting responsibilities that God does not intend for us and accepting God's yoke for us.
The answer to America's social ills is God's grace and Christian love.
