"Sing unto the LORD with thanksgiving; sing praise upon the harp unto our God: Who covereth the heaven with clouds, who prepareth rain for the earth, who maketh grass to grow upon the mountains."
Psalm 147:7-8
I was looking out over the hills and noticed how green they have become. With rain and a little sun, the grass turns the hills a verdant green again. Later this year, the weather will turn dry and warm, and after a few months of dry and hot weather, the hills will turn golden. For the next few weeks, we can enjoy beautifully green, grassy slopes.
Some of you remember that a few years ago, we were experiencing a drought. Several years with just a little rain meant that everything was dry, dry, dry. Some of us began to pray that God would send rain, and He did. It is not climate change or global warming. It is not Gaia. It is God that blesses us with rain. Sometimes, He sends a lot of rain at once. We ought to be grateful for that too.

God has been very good to us. We have a tendency to focus on the negative and notice all the things that we lack rather than to see all the gifts that God has given us.
When we experience the vanity that is life without God, do we return to the God who loves us?
Rest comes from rejecting responsibilities that God does not intend for us and accepting God's yoke for us.
The answer to America's social ills is God's grace and Christian love.
