"Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations."
1 Peter 1:5-6
Put together these two verses tell us the we should rejoice that it is God's power that keeps us until the last time even though in the moment we are experiencing tumultuous trials that test our trust in God. A friend once described his life as being repeatedly bashed in the face by a baseball bat. Life can feel like that at times. Faults and failures,
temptations and trials, disappointments and defeats turn our hearts to water. We see no light at the end of
our dark tunnel.
But God is faithful. In our deepest distress, the Almighty One guards our salvation until the last day! We have no need to worry and fret. Even if we cannot see it, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. It is called eternity, and we will spend that eternity with a loving God Who has always been there for us. So rejoice, your salvation does not depend on you. Not now, not ever. To God be the glory!
Pastor Scott Dean
God has been very good to us. We have a tendency to focus on the negative and notice all the things that we lack rather than to see all the gifts that God has given us.
When we experience the vanity that is life without God, do we return to the God who loves us?
Rest comes from rejecting responsibilities that God does not intend for us and accepting God's yoke for us.
The answer to America's social ills is God's grace and Christian love.
